A Series Of Ups And Downs For Mullen On A Surprise Four Day Weekend

By Spieker Promotions

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 2, 2021) – After deciding to skip his graduation from Red River High School on Sunday, Brendan Mullen ran all four nights of the second South Dakota swing for the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA), highlighted by a top-10 at Park Jefferson Speedway.

On Friday night at River Cities Speedway, Mullen started his night as the second quickest qualifier behind teammate Wade Nygaard, and a fourth place run in his heat race led to a seventh place starting spot in the first 25-lap main event of the weekend.

Mullen was running as high as fifth early on but mechanical woes ended his night early.

On Saturday, Mullen made the trip to Park Jefferson Speedway, charging from seventh to fourth in his heat race.

Mullen traded sliders with his teammate, Wade Nygaard, for the fifth spot, when the 11M slipped off the top of turn four, bringing out the second and final caution at the halfway point.

Mullen was able to rebound in the last half of the race and scored a 10th place run.

Night one at Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night started really well for the 11M crew, finishing fourth in qualifying and fourth in his heat race.

Another solid start to his feature, running inside the top-10 went by the wayside as Mullen went for a series of flips in turn number three, ending his evening with a totaled racecar.

After re-building the backup car all afternoon on Memorial Day Monday, Mullen returned to action for the final event of the four race swing.

Mullen went seventh quick in qualifying and finished third in his heat race, setting up an 11th place start in the feature. Mullen ended his weekend with a 16th place finish.

This weekend, Mullen and the 11M crew will compete with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Friday night at River Cities Speedway. The team will head west on Saturday night to Devils Lake Speedway near Crary, ND for more NOSA action at the site of Mullen’s first career sprint car win two years ago with the CAOSS series.
