Four Top Fives For Pederson Racing

By Spieker Promotions

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 9, 2021) – All three drivers from the Pederson Racing family finished inside the top five in each of their four races last weekend, highlighted by a second place run for Joey at the Buffalo River Speedway with the NLRA on Sunday.

Joey started third and finished second on Sunday night at the Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN, where the series made their return for the first time in five years. This was also Joey’s first race at the tight quarter-mile since 2013.

Joey redrew the outside pole position for the 25-lap main event, starting to the outside of Cole Babcock.

Babcock led the first two laps before Joey took the lead with a power move on the top at the end of the third circuit.

Joey caught up to the rear of the field at the halfway point, making it past the first lapper with ease.

The second lapper proved to be harder to get around, as Joey slid up turn four, allowing Ryan Mikkelson to pass him on the 16th lap.

Joey lined back up behind Mikkelson on a green-white-checkered restart, but came home in the second spot.

Kelsi was also in action with the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints on Sunday at Buffalo River, starting her night with a heat race win. Kelsi started fourth in the 15-lap main event, and moved up to second early on in the race. The race went green-to-checkered, finishing third.

Kelsi and Tucker headed north to the Greenbush Race Park on Saturday night, where both drivers started their nights with heat race wins.

Tucker, beginning his title defense as the track champion, started third in the 15-lap main event. Tucker ran down leader Daniel Aberle and placed a bid for the lead in the closing laps.  Tucker did steal the lead with under five to go, but a caution shortly after moved him back to second for the restart. Tucker, Aberle and John Halvorson all battled side by side for the win in the final stages and Tucker crossed under the checkers in third.

Kelsi started sixth in her 15-lap feature, sliding back to as low as seventh early on. She battled back inside the top five at the midway point, and finished in the fifth position.

This week, Tucker and Joey will run at River Cities on Friday before the pair head up to Greenbush on Saturday.

The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
