River Cities & Oglivie up next for Nygaard Motorsports!

By Spieker Promotions

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 16, 2021) – Wade Nygaard and the 9N team continued their quest for an 11th NOSA series championship last weekend with two races with the NOSA Sprints at the River Cities and Huset’s Speedways.

On Friday night, Nygaard started his night off with his third quick qualifier award of the year, earning him a fourth place start in his heat race.

Nygaard raced to the third spot in his heat race, scoring a spot on the front stretch for the feature redraw, where he redrew the fifth starting spot for the 25 lap main event.

The 9N was maintaining position early, while also battling for a spot inside the podium in the first half of the race, when he hit a rut in turn three, and rolled the Auto Finance / Your Vision Construction machine, ending his night early.

The team had plans to run a 360 show at the I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD on Saturday, but the damage from Friday squashed those plans. Instead, the crew enjoyed a day of R&R at the golf course, before regrouping for another run at the Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night.

Nygaard went out 13th in qualifying on Sunday night, and finished with the ninth-best lap in the session, earning a front row spot for his heat race.

Nygaard led the majority of his 10-lap heat race, but finished second, earning him a second front stretch redraw spot of the weekend.

After redrawing the five for the second time of the weekend, Nygaard spent the majority of the feature battling for all the spots from fifth to tenth, eventually scoring a ninth place result.

“Not good enough,” Nygaard said with a laugh after his weekend. “We had a good night going, running really well. We found a nice line around the bottom, but I clipped a tire going into [turn] three, and that was the end of my night there.

“We’re struggling on speed in the feature,” Nygaard said about his run at Huset’s. “We’re good in qualifying and the heats. We just need to get my car better on the top so I can run the car as hard as I want to run it. There has to be a happy medium there. It’s always been an issue, you’re either good on the top or the bottom. We’ll figure it out.”

Nygaard and the 9N crew will return to River Cities on Friday to continue their fight for the NOSA title before running at the Ogilvie Raceway with the 360 on Saturday. “I feel like we’re faster than we’ve ever been. Our time trials have been awesome. We were right there with Brian Brown in Jackson. We don’t change our car too much anymore, I just think we need some better luck.”
