GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 2, 2021) – Wade Nygaard’s quest for an 11th BWW Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) title continued last weekend with four more races on the schedule, highlighted by a runner-up in the main event on Friday night at River Cities Speedway.

Friday’s NOSA show at River Cities started with Nygaard’s second quick time award of the season, and in doing so, becoming the first to win multiple quick time awards with the series in 2021 with his 10.373-second lap.

Starting fourth in his heat race, Nygaard raced his way into the redraw with a second place run, and redrew the fifth starting spot for the first 25-lap main event of the weekend.

Nygaard remained fifth through a trio of cautions in the first portion of the race, but charged up to second by the end of lap eight.

Nygaard ate into Jade Hastings’ lead, coming within a half-second of the top spot, but ended the race as the runner-up.

Next up was the first of three in South Dakota, as Nygaard made his return to Park Jefferson Speedway, starting his evening by setting the third best time of the night with a 13-and-a-half second lap.

Nygaard went on to win his heat race from the fourth spot and redrew the eighth starting spot for the second 25-lap main event of the Memorial Day weekend.

Nygaard slipped past his teammate, Brendan Mullen, after an early caution to move up to fifth as the pair traded the spot until the final caution at the halfway point.

Nygaard remained in the fifth spot scoring his fifth top-five of the season.

After a DNF on Sunday night at Huset’s Speedway, the 9N crew ended their weekend on Monday night at Huset’s, but a flip in qualifying set the team back early on in the night.

Repairs were made and Nygaard rebounded for a fourth place heat finish after starting last in the seventh spot.

Starting 16th in the final feature of the weekend, Nygaard was able to advance three positions, securing a 13th place finish and the NOSA point lead.

This week the 9N team will compete against the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at River Cities on Friday night, then will resume the battle for the NOSA crown on Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway near Crary, ND.
