Two More Top Fives For Nygaard Motorsports; back at River Cities on Friday
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 24, 2021) – Wade Nygaard and the 9N team put another pair of top-fives under their belts last weekend, with fifth-place runs at both River Cities Speedway on Friday night, and in 360 competition at Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday.
Nygaard started his night on Friday with the fourth-best qualifying lap, and a second-place run in his heat race, earning him another trip to the NOSA redraw.
Nygaard started third in the 25-lap main event, and challenged for the lead early, as he and Jade Hastings battled for second behind Brendan Mullen in the first five laps.
A pair of cautions that came on lap seven, and another with nine laps left, cost Nygaard a few spots, as he spent most of the time between the yellow flags battling with his teammate, Mullen.
Nygaard had one final attempt to move up in the running order in the final three laps, as he briefly took fourth from Mullen, but finished in the fifth spot.
The team headed to the Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday night for a 360 Sprint special, where Nygaard began the night with a fifth-place finish in his heat race.
Starting deep in the 18-car field in the 14th position, Nygaard started a charge to the front early, moving all the way up into the top five in the first five trips around the three-eighths mile oval.
Nygaard held on to his top five on a green-white-checkered restart to finish in the fifth spot.
The Nygaard Motorsports team continues their drive for an 11th NOSA title this week at River Cities on Friday, which will be live on Midco Sports Network.
