Hastings looks for fourth River Cities Speedway win as River Cities hosts NOSA doubleheader

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 8, 2021) – The Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car schedule picks back up this weekend with four consecutive nights of action at three different tracks. It all kicks off tonight and tomorrow at River Cities Speedway for the first two nights of the Wayne Anderson Cup. On Saturday, the series heads to Devils Lake Speedway before making another trip back to Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota on Sunday.

Defending series champion and current point leader Jade Hastings raced to his third win of the season last Friday night on Midseason Track Championship night.

“I knew I had to get after it early because I knew the rubber was going to come eventually,” said Hastings who started second for the 25-lap feature. “I got to the front as quickly as I could and passed Wade (Nygaard) on the second restart. Then the rubber came in and it was smooth sailing after that. I just stayed low so nobody could get underneath me.”

Hastings went on to collect his 16th career feature win, which broke a tie with three-time champion Chris Shirek for ninth on the all-time NOSA wins list. He now sits three wins behind Todd Mack for eighth.

Hastings hasn’t finished outside of the top five in a feature since May 31st at Huset’s and comes into tonight’s action on a streak of three consecutive podium finishes.

“We had some really bad luck at the beginning of the year, but the season overall is definitely getting better,” he said. “We’ve hit our stride. I feel really comfortable. So comfortable that we are now able to try new things with the setup.”

With the win on Friday, Hastings now shares the River Cities Speedway Sprint Car point lead with Austin Pierce.

“We’ve never held the River Cities points lead before in my career. Before the race on Friday, I was telling my guys we have an opportunity to do something we’ve never done before. Now we’re leading both the NOSA points and have a share of the River Cities point lead… things are going good right now.”

Hastings was also in action last Wednesday for NOSA’s annual stop at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. After taking the lead with six laps to go, Hastings finished second after Wade Nygaard stole the lead on the final lap.
