Nygaard brings 28 point lead into Mandan Governor’s Cup

By Spieker Promotions

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 30, 2021) – It was another successful week for Wade Nygaard and the No. 9N Auto Finance Super Center team last week, as a pair of second place finishes helped to extend his point lead in his pursuit of an 11th Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA series championship.

Nygaard started his week on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks with a third place run from the sixth starting spot in his heat race, earning enough passing points to make the inversion draw.

With the eight pill drawn, Nygaard started the 25 lap feature in the fifth position. Nygaard’s route to his first runner-up of the weekend was far from easy, as he climbed past his teammate Brendan Mullen, Jordan Adams, and Nick Omdahl during the first half of the race to gain the position for the first time.

With ten to go, Nygaard slipped back to fourth, but made those spots back in the waning stages of the race, moving past his teammate for a second time, then taking second back from Tom Egeland in the final two trips around the quarter-mile Bullring to finish second.

The 9N crew headed south to Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND on Saturday for more NOSA series action. Nygaard won his heat from the third starting spot, earning another trip to the inversion draw.

Nygaard rolled off fourth in the second 25 lap main event of the weekend, as he and his teammate Mullen made their way to the top two positions early on in the race.

Nygaard had a few chances at the lead with a trio of cautions sprinkled throughout the feature, but finished second to Mullen.

The pair of top tens earned last week will give Nygaard a 28 point lead over Mullen heading into this weekend’s Governor’s Cup at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, ND.

Nygaard has won two of the six features contested at the speedway since the series started sanctioning the race in 2018.
