Nygaard looks to extend his NOSA points lead!
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 22, 2021) – Only one race was on the schedule for Wade Nygaard and the Auto Finance Super Center No. 9N last week, as he scored another top five to keep the NOSA point lead.
Nygaard started Friday night at River Cities Speedway, which was also hosting the World of Outlaws Late Model series, with an eighth place start in his heat race due to the series running the passing points format.
Nygaard finished fourth in the heat race, which gave him enough points to make it into the inversion draw. With ten cars inverted, Nygaard was slated to start in the sixth spot in the 25 lap main event.
Nygaard spent the majority of the race running for position against his teammate Brendan Mullen and Mark Dobmeier. After a called back initial start, the race went caution-free for the following 15 laps.
Two cautions followed, but by that point, Nygaard was solidly inside the top five after sliding back to as low as tenth early on in the race.
On the final restart, Nygaard traded fourth and fifth with Mullen, finishing in the fourth spot.
Nygaard will continue his pursuit of an 11th NOSA championship Friday night at River Cities, and Saturday at the Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. Nygaard has two previous NOSA wins at the quarter-mile bullring in Jamestown, with wins coming in 2013 and 2018.
Nygaard will carry a ten point lead over Jade Hastings in the NOSA standings into the weekend.
