Runner-up with the NLRA best for Strand at River Cities doubleheader

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 14, 2021) – As the season reaches the midway point, Dustin Strand put two more Late Model races in the books last week, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating No. 71 during the NLRA portion of the Wayne Anderson Cup at the River Cities Speedway.

Back-to-back nights of Late Model action were on the card for Strand last week, as he started his week Thursday night at River Cities with a heat race win. Strand redrew the third starting spot for the 25 lap main event.

Strand spent most of the race bouncing between fourth and fifth, using the low side of the quarter-mile Bullring, battling fellow NLRA title contenders Brad Seng and Shane Edginton.

Strand abandoned the low line after a lap 10 yellow, while he continued to run between fourth and fifth.

After a restart with eight to go, Strand rocketed past Seng on the top side to move onto the podium. He then executed perfect slider on Edginton with four to go to take second.

Strand reeled in Mike Greseth for the lead, but ran out of time, finishing in the second spot.

Strand returned to River Cities for weekly competition Friday night, and started out with a heat win from the fifth starting spot.

Starting ninth in the main event, Strand remained inside the top 10, running 10th through the first half of the 20-lap main event.

In the final five laps of the race, Strand used the middle of the track to make a pair of passes to finish seventh.

Tonight, Strand will hop back behind the wheel of his Millenium SRT Modified to compete with the USMTS Modifieds at Casino Speedway in Watertown, SD. In his last visit to Casino Speedway in 2020, Strand recorded a third place finish in WISSOTA Modified action. 

On Friday, Strand will continue his pursuit of another River Cities track title, as he’ll head into this week’s event 14 points back of the top spot.
