Schatz passes 18 cars at Attica; wraps up Kings Royal week with top five

FARGO, ND (July 20, 2021) – A five consecutive race swing through Ohio is complete for Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart / Curb-Agajanian Racing team. Schatz showed speed all week long, highlighted by top five performances at Attica Raceway Park on Tuesday, July 13 and during the Knight Before the Kings Royal on Sunday, July 18.

The Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic went off without a hitch at Attica as the World of Outlaws barely beat the rain Tuesday night. Transferring into the main event by way of a sixth-to-second run in the Last Chance Showdown, Schatz lined up 22nd on the grid for the 40-lap main event.

Schatz sliced his way through the field, mainly using the middle and low grooves around the speedway.

Schatz moved into the top five with eight laps to go and edged out Logan Schuchart at the checkers to steal fourth.

Mother Nature did impact the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway later in the week.

Schatz opened the four-day stretch at the Big E with a 13th place run in the Jokers Wild.

Rain Thursday night during the 38th annual Kings Royal just before Schatz’s heat race postponed the event to Saturday afternoon. That meant the speedway would host a pair of $175,000-to-win Kings Royals on the same day.

Following a postponement of the Knight Before the Kings Royal on Friday due to rain, Schatz returned to Eldora Speedway on Saturday for what will be the highest paying day in sprint car racing of 2021.

Schatz cruised to the heat race win and completed the first Kings Royal A-main in the seventh position.

The Carquest / Ford Performance team pushed off later in the evening and looked even stronger. Schatz timed in seventh quick out of 58 entries and again picked up a heat race win to earn the sixth starting spot in the 40-lap main event.

Schatz ran as high as fourth early on, but fought his No. 15 machine the remainder of the race. He crossed under the checkers in 18th.

The 10-time series champion returned to Eldora Sunday afternoon to wrap up the week with the Knight Before the Kings Royal make-up event.

After wheeling his way from sixth to third in his heat, Schatz picked up a top five finish in the feature, finishing fifth.

The World of Outlaws return to action tonight at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. Schatz is the defending race winner.

Throughout the Kings Royal week, Schatz moved from sixth to fourth in the World of Outlaws point standings. He is currently 248 points out of the lead.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
