Tucker Pederson wins first feature of 2021
By Spieker Promotions
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 13, 2021) – Five more races are in the books for the Pederson family, highlighted by the first win of the 2021 season at the Greenbush Race Park for the defending track champion Tucker Pederson.
Tucker started third in the main event after a fourth place run in his heat race, but already had the lead on the first trip down the backstretch at the beginning of the 15 lap main event.
Tucker continued to lead after a lap two caution and pulled away by nearly a straightaway by the midway point of the race.
Tucker continued on to victory, his first of the season, by nearly five-and-a-half seconds over the rest of the field.
Joey kicked off the week for the family on Thursday night with the NLRA Late Models, as the series ran as part of night one of the Wayne Anderson Cup.
Joey finished sixth in his heat race, but made it to the main event with a second place run in the B Main. Starting deep in the 24 car field, Joey climbed up to 15th in the first 10 laps of the 25 lap main event. At the midway point, Joey made his first appearance inside the top ten, running ninth with eleven to go.
Joey spent the rest of the race around the top ten, finishing tenth. His eleven passes matched Bryce Sward’s charge through the field, though Sward won the award as he finished 9th.
Joey returned to River Cities with Tucker on Friday night for the second night of the Anderson Cup. The boys charged through the field most of the night, as Joey charged from 8th to 3rd in his heat race, while Tucker charged from 16th to 9th in his feature.
Joey went three-wide for third after an early caution in his feature, but slipped back to as low as 7th a few laps later. Joey rebounded late in the race, however, making three passes in the final five laps to finish fourth.
Kelsi ran two features on Saturday at Greenbush with the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints, finishing second from the fifth starting spot in the makeup feature from July 3rd.
Kelsi charged from seventh to third in her heat race, putting her on the pole of the second feature of the night. Kelsi led the first 12 laps of the 20 lap main event in a bid for her first victory of the season.
She fell back to as low as third in the final laps of the race, but finished with her second runner-up performance of the night at the end of the race.
This week the Pederson boys will run at River Cities on Friday, with Joey making his annual start with the World of Outlaws Late Model series. Kelsi and Tucker will run at the Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday.
The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
