Hard Charger Award For Kelsi Highlights Weekend For Pederson Racing

By Spieker Promotions

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (August 4, 2021) – Another solid week of action has been completed by the Pederson trio of racers, highlighted by a hard charger performance by Kelsi during the Corey & Chad Olson Memorial at Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN.

All three Pederson’s were in action last Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Joey and Kelsi won their heat races, while Tucker finished fourth in his heat.

Joey started fourth in the 20 lap Late Model main event. While running inside the top three through a trio of cautions in the first five laps, Joey used the bottom to lead the seventh lap in a torrid back-and-forth battle with Brad Seng.

Joey continued to contend for the win through a final pair of cautions in the second half of the race, eventually finishing in third.

Kelsi was also in contention for a feature win in the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints 15 lap feature. Kelsi remained in the top five through the entire race, but a late red flag gave her one last shot at the victory, but finished third.

Tucker started 12th in the 20 lap street feature, but moved into the top ten from the drop of the green. Tucker’s charge continued on lap seven as he moved into seventh.

At the midway point, Tucker made his first attempts at moving into the top five, as he ran as high as sixth from laps 10 to 12.

Tucker had one last chance at a top five on a green-white-checkered restart, but was collected in a pileup on the front stretch, ending his night with a DNF.

Kelsi and Tucker travelled up to Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, MN on Saturday night. Tucker finished fourth in his heat, while Kelsi was a DNF in her’s.

It was another charge for Tucker in his 15 lap feature, as he fell back to seventh early on in the race. Tucker, as he did at River Cities the night prior, started climbing through the field, as he was back inside the top five by the conclusion of lap three.

With five laps left, Tucker passed Aaron Blacklance for second in a bid for his third win of the season, but ended his run with a third place finish.

Kelsi started in the 18th and final spot in the 25 lap Corey & Chad Olson Memorial race. It didn’t take her long to find the top ten, however, as she ran seventh after the first ten laps. She continued her way forward into sixth at the midway point.

With the white flag flying, Kelsi passed Alan Truscinski to move into the top five, finishing fifth. She passed 13 cars in the 25 lap race.

Kelsi concluded the weekend Sunday night at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN, where she charged from sixth to second in her heat race.

Kelsi started third in the 20 lap feature, and inherited the lead after a jumped start by Alan Truscinski on a lap five restart. Kelsi led the following lap, and continued to battle with Dexter Dvergsten for the lead until a caution with seven to go.

Kelsi remained in the top three for the remainder of the race, finishing third.

This week, Joey and Tucker will both be at River Cities Speedway on Friday and Greenbush Race Park on Saturday. Kelsi will have this weekend off ahead of next weekend’s Minn-Kota Lightning Spring Summer Shootout.

The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
