EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (August 27, 2021) – Joey Pederson parked the No. 7P Late Model in victory lane Wednesday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks for the second time in 2021.
Following a heat win from the third starting spot, Joey rolled out fifth for the 25 lap NLRA feature.
Joey ran third for most of the first ten trips around the quarter-mile Bullring, but during a three-car battle for the second spot at the midway point, Joey avoided disaster as the trio made contact. Joey spun at the bottom of turn three, but was able to continue the race in the second spot.
On the ensuing restart, Joey stormed to the lead, and began to pull away while running the cushion.
As the race neared its conclusion, Shane Edginton took the lead while the pair worked lapped traffic. Joey was able to keep Edginton close and gain the lead back with four laps remaining.
Joey continued on to win his second feature at River Cities this season.
“That restart when Shane slid me, I thought, well here we go,” Joey said in victory lane post race. “He’s obviously one of the best this year, and I was able to get back around him. That was pretty fun, hard racing there at the end.
Joey dedicated the win to Julie and Tucker who watched from home. “It’s been a hell of a year for our family. It’s so special to be able to dedicate these wins to her.”
Joey will go for win number three on Friday night at River Cities. Kelsi will also be in action this weekend, as she’ll run the No. 93 Northland Sheds / Southline Farms Henchcraft at Buffalo River Speedway on Saturday and Sunday.
The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
