Nygaard gears up for NOSA doubleheader following strong Governor’s Cup weekend
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 5, 2021) – Wade Nygaard has been a model of consistency this season. The 10-time Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA champion is currently on a streak of five consecutive top five finishes, three of which have been podium efforts.
Dating back to June 13th, Nygaard has only one finish outside of the top five – a span that covers 13 races.
That consistency has Nygaard atop the NOSA Sprint Car standings by 24 markers over his Mullen Motorsports teammate Brendan Mullen.
Nygaard picked up two more top five finishes last weekend at the Governor’s Cup at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, N.D. The two-time Governor’s Cup champion drove from seventh to third in Friday’s main event before capping off the weekend with a fifth place run on Saturday.
This weekend, Nygaard will again be on the NOSA trail starting with River Cities Speedway on Friday night in Grand Forks. Nygaard will be looking to grab the track’s Sprint Car point lead from Austin Pierce.
Nygaard is second in the standings, a mere seven markers behind his fellow Grand Forks driver.
On Sunday, the series will head to Buffalo River Speedway for the first time since 2019.
Nygaard is the most recent 410 Sprint Car winner at the tight and tricky quarter-mile. That win came on a last lap, last corner pass for the lead on Jade Hastings during the Corn Cob Nationals.
