Tucker earns podium finish at Greenbush; Kelsi prepares for Lightning Sprint Shootout

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (August 11, 2021) – As the season heads into the dog days of August, the Pederson family of racers are preparing for their schedules to ramp up in the coming weeks, starting with Kelsi getting ready to campaign the No. 93 Northland Sheds / Southline Farms Henchcraft in the four-day Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Shootout.

The Pederson boys were in action last weekend at River Cities Speedway, and at Greenbush Race Park last Friday and Saturday. Both started fifth and seventh in their heat races, respectively. Joey finished third in his No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors / Channel Seed Late Model, while Tucker was fifth in his No. 27P Olson Underground / Amy Dallum Photography Street Stock.

Joey started deep in the field in the 20 lap main event, but had made up five spots to improve to 13th in the first half of the race before mechanical woes ended his night.

Tucker’s feature went much the same as Joey’s with a start towards the back of the field in his 15 lap feature. Tucker improved six spots, and was running seventh when he too suffered from mechanical woes, ending his race with four to go.

The boys made repairs in time to head to Greenbush for the NLRA Late Model special on Saturday night. The pair swapped heat race starting spots, as Joey started seventh with Tucker starting fifth. Both improved from their original starting spots, with Tucker finishing fourth, and Joey making four passes to finish third.

Joey made the redraw, and selected the six chip for the 25 lap main event, while Tucker was slated to roll off fifth in his 15 lap feature.

It only took Tucker three laps to climb up to the runner-up spot, where he ran for the majority of the race. Tucker was within a couple tenths of Ryan Johnson for the lead, but raced with Aaron Blacklance for second late in the race. Tucker finished in the third spot.

Joey started the race running fifth by the conclusion of the fifth lap, but spent the majority of the race running sixth. After getting back into the top five with three laps left, Joey just missed out on the top five, finishing in sixth.

This week, the Pederson’s are preparing for another busy week of racing action, as Kelsi will run four races in four nights for the POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Shootout. The tour starts on Thursday night at Norman County Raceway in Ada, MN, and continues on Friday at River Cities.

A return to Greenbush on Saturday night will be followed by the fourth and final race of the tour at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN on Sunday night.

11 of Kelsi’s 17 career feature wins have come at the four race tracks that the series will visit. Kelsi has one at Norman County, five at River Cities, two at Greenbush, and three at Buffalo River.

Both Joey and Tucker will be back at River Cities on Friday with Tucker also racing Greenbush on Saturday.

The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
