Lernerville podium highlights Schatz’s strong weekend

FARGO, N.D. (September 27, 2021) – After a near cross-country trip from California, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars were back in action last weekend at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio and Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania.

Schatz collected a pair of top five finishes during the two races, highlighted by a podium run on Saturday night at Lernerville.

After timing in fourth quick to start the night on Saturday, Schatz cruised to a heat win and a third-place finish in the dash.

The 10-time series champion ran fourth in the early going of the 35-lap Commonwealth Clash main event before getting by outside front row starter Wayne Johnson for third near the halfway point.

Schatz remained a contender for the duration of the race and crossed under the checkers in third.

“It really got quick on the top. We were pretty decent on the bottom and thought we held our own on the top,” said Schatz after the race. “I thought the top would go away a little bit, but we got up there and went about as fast as I can remember going around here.

“I thought when we got in traffic there when Brad (Sweet) was leading, we were going to have a chance to get up there and mix it up a little bit, but the yellow came out and we just couldn’t get back up there. Hats off to these Carquest guys. They did a great job, got us qualified well and we keep improving little by little. We’ll get there.”

Schatz also picked up a heat race win on Friday night during Eldora Speedway’s BeFour The Crowns Showdown after timing in fifth quick.

Schatz took the lead on the opening lap from his outside front row starting position and looked to be the class of the field for the majority of the 30-lap feature. Schatz had constant pressure from Logan Schuchart from lap 10 until lap 22 when Schuchart was able to find a way around Schatz for the lead.

A late race restart shuffled Schatz back to fourth, where he would go on to take the checkers.

Up next is the $75,000-to-win National Open at Williams Grove Speedway. Schatz comes into the event as the six-time and defending National Open champion.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
