Mullen looks to capitalize on last week’s podium run at River Cities
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 17, 2021) – Brendan Mullen looked poised to sweep all the winnings last Friday night at River Cities Speedway. Up for grabs was the $1,750-to-win feature, along with the Wayne Anderson Cup points title and hard charger bonus.
Mullen’s consistency through the four-race Wayne Anderson Cup series earned him both the points championship and the hard charger bonus, courtesy of HudSun Wellness Center and Tan.
He was just a few laps away from collecting the feature win as well.
The race got off to a rough start for Mullen as he was collected in an opening lap tangle, but he was able to keep the car under power and restart in his original spot of fourth.
As the race resumed, Mullen filed into second behind Austin Pierce. Wild restarts in the second half of the race shuffled up the running order in the top five.
Mullen benefitted from one of those restarts as he grabbed the point on lap 22 of 30. Mullen led two trips around the Bullring until Pierce found the rubber in turns one and two and drove by.
Mullen went on to finish third behind Pierce and Mark Dobmeier.
Just the River Cities Speedway season finale is on tap this weekend. Mullen is second in the track standings, 20 points behind Pierce.
