Mullen records career-best Huset’s finish; takes over NOSA point lead
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 1, 2021) – After destroying a car four days prior during the World of Outlaws event at River Cities Speedway, the Native Nations Cannabis No. 11M team returned to Huset’s Speedway on Sunday stronger than ever.
Brendan Mullen turned in a career-best run at Huset’s against a strong field of 24 Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints, picking up a fourth place finish to record his second consecutive top five and third consecutive top 10 at the three-eighths mile oval.
After timing in seventh quick, Mullen dominated his heat race, winning by over a half lap.
An unfavorable pill draw put Mullen seventh on the grid for the 25-lap main event, but Mullen found himself inside the top five before the completion of lap 10.
The track began taking rubber throughout the second half of the race, but Mullen still found a way to move by Dusty Zomer to take over fourth, which is where he would go on to take the checkers.
Mullen’s teammate Wade Nygaard was collected in an incident during the feature which resulted in Nygaard getting upside down. With Sunday being a NOSA-sanctioned event, that greatly benefitted Mullen who was second to Nygaard in the series standings.
Heading into Friday’s event at River Cities Speedway, Mullen now holds the NOSA points lead for the first time in his career by a mere single point over Nygaard.
