FARGO, N.D. (February 28, 2022) – After a washed-out weekend in the southeast, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series is set to head to Texas for a doubleheader at Cotton Bowl Speedway.
The Paige, Texas high-banked three-eighths mile oval hosts the Texas Two-Step this Friday and Saturday night. Both events will be broadcast live on DIRTVision.com.
This weekend’s World of Outlaws events will be the fifth and sixth hosted by the speedway since the series’ first visit in 2016.
Ten-time series champion Donny Schatz has posted four top 10 finishes in each of the four previous events at Cotton Bowl Speedway. His best finish is a fifth-place effort on two occasions; last season after starting 10th and in 2016 after starting 13th on the grid.
If Schatz can pick up a win this weekend, Cotton Bowl Speedway will be the 89th different track at which the driver of the Tony Stewart / Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 15 has won.
“I’m looking forward to getting to Cotton Bowl and resuming our season,” said Schatz. “The beginning of the season is always an exciting time, especially when you have a fast car, and I’m pumped to get back behind the wheel of our Advanced Auto Parts / Ford Performance 15. We haven’t won at Cotton Bowl yet and I’m hoping we can change that by the end of the weekend.”
Schatz already has a feature win to his credit in 2021. The Fargo pilot led all 25 trips around Volusia Speedway Park on Feb. 10th to win the World of Outlaws season opener. The win was Schatz’s 303rd of his career.
Schatz currently sits second in the point standings, 14 markers behind leader David Gravel.
