Knoxville, Iowa (April 13, 2023) – Brendan Mullen and the Native Nations Cannabis / Royal River Casino No. 11M are set to continue their spring road trip through the Midwest this weekend with a stop at Iowa’s famed Knoxville Raceway.
Mullen, who started his season in Florida in February, put three more races under his belt last weekend, starting with a pair of races at the recently reshaped Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa with the Malvern Bank 360 Sprint Series.
Following a second place run in his heat race on Friday night, Mullen started third in the 20 lap main event.
Running in and around the top five for most of the first half of the race, Mullen fell back to as low as 10th on a late restart, but climbed back into the top five in the final laps, finishing fifth.
The following night saw a third place heat finish turn into a fourth place start for the second 20 lap feature of the weekend.
Save for a pair of laps early on in the main event, which was marred by a number of cautions, Mullen remained in the top three for the final 16 laps to score his second top five of the season.
On Tuesday night, Mullen made a stop at Lakeside Speedway near Kansas City, KS to run with the newly formed High Limit Racing.
Mullen showed good speed early, breaking into the 14 second bracket, which locked him into heat race competition.
Bad luck followed, however, as he got upside down on the initial start of the heat race, ending his night early.
This weekend marks Mullen’s first trip to Knoxville Raceway for the 2023 season.
In two visits to the famed half mile last season, a 16th place run in the 360 feature on May 21st was his best performance on a night where he pulled double duty, running in both the 410 and 360 class.
