ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER SWEEP FOR THE PEDERSON KIDS

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (May 31, 2023) – It’s safe to say that Kelsi and Tucker Pederson are on a roll to start their 2023 campaigns. While the entire Pederson trio raced together on Friday night at River Cities, the Brother-Sister duo left Devils Lake Speedway last Saturday night with their second victories of the season.

With the first event on the schedule for River Cities Speedway to feature all three division in which the Pederson family races, all three were on hand for action at the Bullring last Friday night.

Tucker kicked things off by winning his heat race from the pole position. Kelsi was next up, with a charge from 5th to 3rd on the wind battered and dry slick clay high banks. Joey rounded out qualifying action from the family, starting fourth in his heat and finishing third.

In the latter stages of the 20-lap Street Stock finale, Tucker had reeled in leader Weston Ramsrud, who had led since the fifth lap, going door-to-door for the top spot, but falling just short of the win by just under three-tenths of a second.

Kelsi started sixth in the initial POWRi Minn-Kota feature at the Speedway this season, and bounced around anywhere from as low as seventh, to running as high as fourth at the start of the 20 lapper. When all was said and done, Kelsi finished where she started in sixth.

Joey was the last one to take to the track for his main event, where he rolled off fourth. Just past the midway point of the race, Joey remained in battles with Mike Greseth and Dustin Strand late in the 20-circuit finale, but Joey came home just outside the top five in sixth.

On Saturday, the family left the Late Model at home and headed west to Devils Lake Speedway. The pair finished second in their heat races, respectively, with Tucker climbing to fourth behind Trey Hess, and Kelsi from third behind Jason Berg.

To keep things perfect, the pair were scheduled to roll off fourth in each of their features. Tucker went on to defeat Hess and Kasey Ussatis, who had beat Tucker for the feature win at the speedway just one week prior.

Kelsi engaged in a torrid battle with Matthew Taves for the feature win, which Kelsi taking the battle for her second victory of the season.

To round out the schedule, Tucker made his debut at two more tracks over the remainder of Memorial Day Weekend. Tucker made the trip to Casino Speedway in Watertown, SD on Sunday night, and to Sheyenne Speedway in Lisbon, ND on Monday.

Tucker scored his seventh and eighth top fives of the year with a fifth-place run at Casino, and a third-place score at Sheyenne.
