THE PEDERSON BOYS RETURN TO RIVER CITIES; TUCKER SECOND AT DEVILS LAKE
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (May 18, 2023) – The Pederson boys are ready to kick off another season of racing action at their home track, Grand Forks, North Dakota’s River Cities Speedway this Friday night.
Joey, fresh off his fifth River Cities Speedway points title last season in his No. 7P Dahlstrom Motors / Channel Seed Rocket XR1, won two features on his way to his first track title since 2013. Joey will begin the 31st of his racing career, with 60 career wins at the quarter-mile bullring, 40 of which have been scored in the Late Model division.
Tucker will head back to River Cities coming off a 12 win season in 2022 in the North Dakota Eye Clinic / Olson Underground No. 27P Wissota Street Stock, a career high. Six of those wins happened in Grand Forks, including his triumph at the John Seitz Memorial in September.
Tucker has started his seventh season of Street Stock racing. He attended the opener at I-94 emr Speedway in Fergus Falls, MN a week ago Friday. In his heat race, which was also his debut at the three-eighths mile oval, Tucker was leading when the transmission popped out of gear.
Tucker restarted and salvaged a fourth place finish. While lining up for the main event, an ignition module failure cost him his chance to race in the feature.
Last Saturday night, Tucker was battling for third early in the main event at Devils Lake Speedway when he was charged with a caution on lap five.
Fighting back into the top five by the midway point, Tucker continued his charge to the front, shadowing race long leader Seth Klostreich in the closing laps. Tucker just barely fell short of the win by a few inches at the line.
Kelsi Pederson may begin her eighth season of Lightning Sprint action underway in the R&R Farms / Bad Boy Mowers No. 93 Henchcraft this Sunday with the POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints opener at Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN.
