MULLEN NETS TOP FIVE AT BLAZIN’ CHALLENGE
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 23, 2023) – Brendan Mullen kept his speedy ways going last Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks during the annual running of the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Challenge. Mullen won the King of the Hill tournament, putting down the only lap under ten seconds in the six round event.
Mullen started his evening winning his heat from the third starting spot by nearly two-and-a-half seconds. That result allowed Mullen to wait to be in the final leg of the King of the Hill event. Mullen beat Austin Pierce, putting down a blistering lap of 9.901 seconds.
By the end of the opening lap, Mullen was already in the top ten, running in the ninth spot. Mullen continued up into eighth before the second caution of the 35-lap feature on the fourth lap.
Restarting seventh when the green came back out, Mullen found his way into the top five at the conclusion of the fifth circuit, passing ten cars in the first five laps.
On the second lap following the resumption of the race. Mullen moved into fourth, passing Zach Omdahl before going three wide with Austin Pierce and Blake Egeland on the backstretch on the seventh lap.
Mullen continued to run fourth through ten laps as he ran around the top side of the racetrack while attempting to hold off Mark Dobmeier. Mullen remained in the top five through the third and final caution with eight to go.
Mullen completed the final eight laps in ninth to earn his 12th top five of the season.
This week, the World of Outlaws return for their perennial August visits to River Cities and Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. Last season, Mullen finished 16th both nights with the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt.’ Sunday marks another trip to Southeast South Dakota for another date at Huset’s Speedway.
