Strand heads to Arizona following successful Wild West Shootout

PORTLAND, N.D. (January 18, 2024) – Jason Strand has arrived in Arizona for the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Arizona following his second consecutive trip to the Wild West Shootout at Vado Speedway Park in New Mexico.


Strand joined some of the best names in the dirt Late Model world for six nights of competition behind the wheel of the No. E85 North Dakota Corn Utilization Council / Sower Power Racing Engines Rocket Chassis XR1, capping the event off with an eighth-place run last Sunday night.

Strand, who is beginning his fourth season of Late Model competition, made six starts in last season’s running of the Shootout, highlighted by a trip to the A-Main on night two at the one-third mile oval, finishing 16th.

Strand, who made three of the six main events over the six-night mini-series, capped off the event by finishing eighth during Sunday night’s finale, finishing between World of Outlaw champions Bobby Pierce and Brandon Sheppard.

Strand’s 2023 trip across the southwest saw him continue over to Central Arizona Raceway in Casas Grande where he scored five top five finishes in eight appearances at the three-eighths mile oval that sits half an hour south of the Phoenix metro.

Strand made 15 starts in the upper Midwest during the 2023 campaign, highlighted by a third-place run during the NLRA’s Sunday at the Fair event at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, one of eight top tens scored between mid-May and late July.
