Strand set to begin season in Arizona
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (January 18, 2024) – For the seventh time in eight year, Dustin Strand is set to take the No. 71 Q&Z Plumbing and Heating / Walhalla Building Center Millenium SRT Late Model to the Grand Canyon State for six nights of action at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande for the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw starting January 18th.
Strand is no stranger to making the early season trek to the southwest as he has competed at the Wild West Shootout since 2016, but this season he will return to Arizona after competing at Vado Raceway Park in New Mexico last January.
Another change to Strand’s early season lid-lifter will be switching from campaigning his Modified for Late Model action, as he has run in the Modified and B-Mod divisions since 2018.
Strand was the breakout star of the opening night of action in 2016 as he was running inside the top three against some of the best Late Model drivers in the county, but a mechanical failure erased that podium performance. Strand scored three top tens in his two trips to Arizona in Late Model action in 2016 and 2017.
In Late Model action during the 2023 season, Strand chalked up five feature victories and 28 top tens in 33 nights of action.
You can catch Strand and a strong contingent of other local talent from January 18th-20th and from January 25th-27th from Central Arizona on SpeedSport.TV.
