A Pair of Podiums for Strand as Arizona Tour Continues

PORTLAND, N.D. (February 20, 2024) – Jason Strand continued to make the most of his winter racing schedule last weekend as the driver of the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council / Millenium Chassis / SRT Specialties No. E85 scored a pair of podium finishes at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande.

Strand started his weekend charging from eighth to finish third in the heat race, setting up a front row starting spot in the first 20-lap feature of the weekend.

Strand took the lead from his outside pole starting spot but was challenged by Nebraska racer Justin Bussell at the start of lap three. Following some contact between the lead duo, Strand also saw Don Shaw slip past as the E85 fell to third.

Strand improved to second on a restart just before the midway point, though Bussel regained the spot on the following circuit. Strand again found himself in the second spot following the second caution of the race on the opposite end of the halfway mark, entering into a door-to-door battle with Bussel for second which lasted through the final caution and to the drop of the checkers. Strand finished in the third position.

On night two of the weekend double header, Strand won his heat race and started on the pole of the 20-lap main event. With Don Shaw to his inside at the drop of the green, Strand held off both second row starters and finished the lap on Shaw’s tail, running in the runner up spot.

Strand fended off a challenge by Bussell on lap two and continued to hold the second spot through a caution a couple circuits later.

Strand used the top of the track to hold off Karl Tipton for second on the ensuing restart. Strand remained within striking distance of Shaw on the final restart late in the race, finishing with a season high second place result.

Strand now has 14 race nights under his belt to start the 2024 campaign, competing in 11 main events and scoring two top fives and five top ten finishes including his eighth place finish in the Wild West Shootout finale in January.
