GRAND FORKS, N.D. (February 1, 2024) – Brendan Mullen kicked off his 15 night tour of the Sunshine State in the 605 Lending / Knife River No. 11M last weekend at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL highlighted by a 12th place run with the USCS Sprint Series last Friday night.
Taking on the half-mile Volusia Speedway Park for just the third time in his career last Thursday night, Mullen found more and more speed each time he hit the race track culminating in a heat race run where he charged from eighth to fifth, falling one spot short of transferring to his first career main event at the speedway.
He earned his way into his first Volusia feature later on in the evening by running a strong second in the first Last Chance Showdown. Starting in the tenth row of the first 25-lap feature of the weekend, Mullen finished in the 20th position.
Taking everything learned from night one, Mullen started night two strong, finishing third quick in his qualifying group, earning a front row starting spot in his heat race. Following a second place finish in the heat, Mullen rolled off eleventh in the second 25-lapper of the weekend.
Mullen mixed it up with some of the top talent in the country, competing for spots in and around the top ten throughout the race, including battles with veteran Wayne Johnson for tenth late in the race. A late caution cost Mullen one spot, but finished the race in 12th.
This weekend, Mullen crosses another new track off the list as he will head further south to Hendry County Speedway in Clewiston for more action with the USCS series before heading back to Volusia next weekend to kick off his 410 season with the World of Outlaws.
