Week Two in Florida Nets Pair of Top Tens For Mullen
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (February 6, 2024) – Brendan Mullen continued his sojourn through Florida last weekend, scoring a pair of top ten finishes as he and the No. 11M Native Nations Cannabis / Simplot team headed further south to make their debut at Hendry County Speedway in Clewiston.
Mullen followed the USCS Sprint series south to Hendry County for a pair of races on Friday and Saturday night, starting the weekend with a third place finish in his heat race, setting up a feature starting spot on the outside of the fifth row for the ensuing 25-lapper.
Mullen made his way forward from the drop of the green, climbing up to the eighth spot and spent all but two trips around the third-mile oval inside the top ten.
While running eleventh with ten laps to go, Mullen passed multi-time USCS champion and Nation Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Terry Gray with 10 to go. Mullen chased down Lance Moss in the closing laps, stealing the ninth spot at the drop of the checkers to earn his first top ten of the 2023 campaign.
Night two at Hendry County saw Mullen finish fifth in his heat race and roll off 13th in the 30-lap weekend finale. It took 20 laps, but Mullen again reached the top ten on a late restart, improving three positions, including a pass on fellow Midwest runner Chris Thram to take ninth, where Mullen completed the race for the second night in a row.
Mullen and the 11M crew have returned to Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville for four nights of action with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series following Tuesday night’s practice session. Mullen made his first A-Main starts at the half-mile two weeks ago in USCS competition and will look to make his first Outlaw main event this weekend following his debut at the track last February.
