Nygaard Eyes Seventh Win Over Labor Day Weekend

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 1, 2017) – Wade Nygaard and the Auto Finance Super Center team will be looking to get back into victory lane this weekend as they return to action. Nygaard had a streak of three consecutive wins to end the month of July and as of late has rattled off two top fives in his most recent pair of events.

Last weekend the Nygaard Motorsports crew had just one race on their schedule. They unloaded at River Cities Speedway on Friday and were fast right out of the gate.

Nygaard picked up the win in heat race number one from the outside of the front row. Nygaard and Austin Pierce raced hard for the lead in the opening laps, but Nygaard prevailed after a handful of circuits.

The nine-time and defending NOSA champion then held off Mark Dobmeier to secure the heat win.

Nygaard drew the pole for the main event and had Chris Ranten lined up outside of him for the 25-lapper. Ranten had the preferred groove on the top and grabbed the early lead at the start. Nygaard battled back, but the caution flew just five laps in.

On the restart, Dobmeier wrestled the second spot away from Nygaard, but Nygaard remained within striking distance of both the leaders.

Restarts continued to hinder Nygaard as Austin Pierce slipped by on lap nine. Pierce would move up to the second spot, while Nygaard reeled in Ranten for third. The two drivers traded slidejobs around the three-tenths mile dirt oval.

With five to go, Pierce suffered a mechanical failure, which moved Nygaard up to third. On the restart, things go strung out around the high side of the speedway.

Nygaard settled into the third spot, where he took the checkers to claim his 16th podium finish of 2017.
