Strand Looks Bounce Back in Second Half of 2017 Season

PORTLAND, N.D. (August 1, 2017) – A promising weekend turned into a frustrating one last weekend for Jason Strand and the E85 Racing team. Jason kicked things off by claiming a convincing heat race win Thursday night at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn., but the feature didn’t go as smoothly.
After starting third on the grid, Jason battled with Brady Petermann and Bryce Borgen early on. However, as the race advanced, he began slipping back in the running order.
The driver of the North Dakota Corn Council / ProSeed No. E85 scratched and clawed for every position, but would take the checkers in the seventh spot.
After taking a look at the car, the team realized damage that was suffered from a prior incident was the culprit for the ill-handling race car.
“The car is bent. The crash in Ada the week before made it worse,” said Jason. “It took everything I had just to hang on to the car. It was the same thing (at Red River Valley Speedway) in Fargo on Friday. I made some major changes in between the heat and the feature and changed some stuff that would have made it so tight that I wouldn’t have been able to drive it, but it didn’t work out that way. It’s frustrating when you know you have a car that’s capable and it’s not the way it used to be.”
On Friday, the North Dakota Corn Council presented the night’s racing action. Jason raced his wounded car to a fifth place finish in the heat and took the checkers 12th in the feature.
The Black Widow Racing machine will be getting fixed up this week in Iowa, as the E85 Racing team looks to close out the final month and a half of the 2017 season on a strong note.
“We’ll get it back going and get it fixed up. I’m pretty confident in those guys getting it back to where the car is supposed to be. It’ll be good to get it fixed now so I know that it’s fixed over the winter and we’ll go into next year knowing we have a good car,” Jason said.
