Dobmeier Claims Win in NOSA’s first visit to Brown County Speedway

By Mike Spieker

ABERDEEN, S.D. (June 23, 2018) – A solid field of 20 Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints made the haul to Brown County Speedway for the series’ first-ever visit. Mark Dobmeier claimed his fifth win of the season after holding off defending NOSA champion, Austin Pierce, in the closing laps.

Kelly Miller and Dobmeier led the field to the green with Dobmeier taking the lead on lap one. The caution was quickly displayed, however, as Nick Omdahl got sideways in turn four and collected Brayden Pengilly and Jack Croaker. Pengilly tipped on her side, but was ok.

On the ensuing restart, the carnage continued as Donovan Peterson, Tanner Wisk, Brendan Mullen, Thomas Kennedy, Kevin Ingle and Bob Martin were all involved in an incident on the front stretch. Mullen got upside down, but he and all other drivers were ok.

Following another complete restart, Dobmeier led Miller and Pierce until the caution was displayed once more on lap four. The restart produce yet another caution as Jordan Martens and Brandon Rekow got together on the back stretch.

With the race going green the rest of the way, Dobmeier stretch out his advantage over Pierce at the halfway point. With under five to go, Pierce had erased Dobmeier’s lead and was all over the tail tank of the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13. On the final lap, Pierce dove to the inside of Dobmeier in turns three and four, pulling up to the left rear tire of Dobmeier, but Dobmeier had the momentum off the corner and took the win.

Pierce, Jade Hastings, Wade Nygaard and Ty Hanten rounded out the top five.

“It was kind of a tricky track,” said Dobmeier after the race. “It was heavy in the heats after the rain, but dried up for the feature. Halfway through it was about to take rubber, but it never actually did so it was tough to choose the top or bottom. It feels good to get this Buffalo Wild Wings / Lunstra Motorsports car back in victory lane. We’ve been snake bit these last two NOSA shows so it feels good to be back up front.”
