Thomas Sr., Pederson & Truscinski Record Wins!

(June 27, 2017) – The Northern Lightning Sprint Association had a jam-packed week of racing, starting with their one and only stop to Norman County Raceway on Wednesday night. From there, the series headed to River Cities Speedway for a pair of shows, one of which was canceled due to rain, before wrapping up the weekend Sunday at Buffalo River Race Park.

Kevin Thomas, Sr. continued his winning ways at Norman County Raceway. The driver from Cullman, Ala. started on the pole and led every circuit around the high-banked three-eighths mile oval en route his sixth win of the 2017 season.

The veteran driver topped Dexter Dvergsten, as Alan Truscinski, Presley Truedson, and Brody Hutton rounded out the top five.

Kelsi Pederson, daughter of Late Model driver Joey Pederson, led from green to checkered Friday night at River Cities Speedway. The young lady out of East Grand Forks, Minn. held off veteran driver Dexter Dvergsten in the closing laps in lapped traffic to score her first career win.

Pederson turned the fastest lap of the event at 12.622 seconds, averaging 85.565mph around the high-banked three-tenths mile oval.

Fargo’s Jason Berg jumped out to the lead on the opening lap of Sunday’s event at Buffalo River Race Park. The rookie driver led the first 8 laps of the 20 lap event until Kevin Thomas Sr. threatened Berg for the lead. As they headed into turn one, Thomas Sr. dove to the inside of Berg and the two made contact, which sent Thomas Sr. spinning. Damage from the incident ended Thomas Sr.’s night.

On the restart, a three wide battle for the lead ensued, which led to Alex Truscinski grabbing the lead. Truscinski ran away from the field to claim his first win of the season at BRRP.

The NLSA Lightning Sprints will be in action this Saturday and Sunday at Greenbush Race Park.
