Grosz Garners Podium Finish at Park Jefferson

By Spieker Promotions

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (May 30, 2018) – Lee Grosz and the HI-10 Sports Center / Kyle Johnson Trucking team had a pair of MSTS Sprint Car shows on the schedule last weekend. However, Friday night’s race at Jackson Motorplex was canceled due to rain, leaving just Saturday at Park Jefferson Speedway.

After racing from seventh to fourth in his heat, Lee was seventh in passing points before the night’s redraw. The Harwood, N.D. driver drew the fourth starting position for the 25-lap feature.

“The bottom was the place to be in the feature. We got to third right away and about 10 laps in we got into pretty heavy lapped traffic,” said Lee. “[Jack] Dover was leading and [Gregg] Bakker was in second and I got by Bakker but the yellow came out the next lap so I got put back to third for the restart.”

Lee ran in the third spot once the race resumed until the leaders encountered lapped traffic once again. “I got back by Bakker for second, but then I got stuck behind a lapped car with about five laps to go and he got back by me,” continued Lee. “I tried to run the top side to get back around him, but I didn’t have anything for him. We ended up coming home third, but any time you can finish in the top three, it’s a good night.”

This weekend, Lee will be in action Friday at Jackson Motorplex for the tri-sanctioned event between the MSTS, UMSS and Nebraska 360s. On Saturday, he will head to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. for his first appearance in two years.

Lee picked up back-to-back wins with the UMSS Sprints at Cedar Lake in 2016 and is looking forward to returning to the high-banked three-eighths mile oval.

“It seems like every time we are there, the track has a lane on the top with a cushion and that fits my driving style. Hopefully we can get at least one ‘W’ and have a solid weekend altogether,” Lee said.

Lee currently holds a 51 point lead over Jody Rosenboom atop the MSTS 360 point standings. Lee’s three top fives with the series are the second-most to date through the first fives races of the season.

Lee and the entire team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support including HI-10 Sports Center, Kyle Johnson Trucking, Fischer Auto Body, J&J Auto Racing and Penske Shocks.
