JACKSON, Minn. (June 20, 2018) – MSTS racing continued last Friday night at Jackson Motorplex. The event was the lone race of the weekend for Lee Grosz and the No. 4J team. In what was his third appearance of the season at Jackson, Grosz had another strong showing in his Moyle powered J&J.
Grosz began the night by charging from eighth to second in his heat race, which made him the highest point-getter following heat race action. Grosz redrew the seventh position for the 30-lap feature.

“I got to fourth about a lap or two into the feature. About five laps in, I got around Scott Winters for third just as the yellow came out. I was really getting around the top well and guys in front of me were around the bottom,” said Grosz. “Winters took my line on the restart going into one and I went through the middle and passed him. I could feel the rubber starting to lay down already. In about another four to fives laps it was pretty locked down in the rubber.”

For the remainder of the event, Grosz rode behind leader, Jack Dover, and Ryan Bickett.

“I was able to get under Bickett a few times in lapped traffic, but just couldn’t get by him. We ended up third, but it was a good night.”

A lot has changed in Sprint Car racing over the last 10 years, but the Grosz’s used a tried and true setup for when Lee began racing in Jackson around 2008.

“On the way down to Jackson, my dad found some old setup books of my grandpa’s from when I first started racing there from about 2008 to 2012. All year long, I’ve wanted to run this setup we used to run back in the day. I told my dad we should try it for hot laps and the heat. We went with it and in the heat, that was the best the car has felt in a long time. My grandpa was all excited when my mom told him that we dug in the notebook and found his old setups. I think we’re going to leave that setup in there for awhile and see how it goes.”

This weekend, the Lee Grosz Racing team has a big four-race swing lined up covering three states. On Thursday, they will head to Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. to compete with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints. In 2014, Grosz took down the 410 Sprints with his 360 at the big three-eighths mile.

On Friday, the MSTS 360 series will bring Grosz back to Jackson Motorplex, before heading to Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Neb. with MSTS on Saturday. The weekend will come to a close Sunday at Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D. with the NOSA Sprints.

Entering the weekend, Grosz has a 36 point lead over Jack Dover atop the MSTS point standings.
