Strand Picks Up Podium Finish in 2018 Norman County Debut!

By Spieker Promotions

PORTLAND, N.D. (June 6, 2018) – Jason Strand and the E85 Racing team were back in action at Norman County Raceway (NCR) last Thursday night to kick off their 2018 local racing season. Jason debuted his new WISSOTA Midwest Modified at NCR before bringing the IMCA Modified out Friday at Red River Valley Speedway.

While the racing season is nearly a month in now, Jason looked like he was in mid-season form Thursday during his Midwest Mod heat. The Portland, N.D. driver started on the outside of the front row and picked up a convincing win to start the night.

“In the feature I had to start eighth. It was a pretty fast race track and it took me a few laps to get around some cars,” said Jason. “The leaders got stretched out a bit but with four to go we had a yellow. Unfortunately, I didn’t have anything for the leaders, but we learned a few things on the car for this week.”

Jason charged from eighth to finish third behind Lance Schill and Brock Gronwold.

On Friday, Jason was mired in the back of a stacked IMCA Modified heat race. Early in the night, the track was still somewhat greasy, which made passing difficult. Strand still moved from seventh to fifth, which would have put him 14th on the grid for the feature.

However, the skies opened up just as the Modified feature took to the track, forcing the night to end early. The Modified feature will be made up this Friday, along with the regularly scheduled complete show.

“I think we’ve got the Modified really close too. I wish we could have got that feature in so I could have gotten a little more seat time, but we are sitting pretty good with the Modified,” said Jason.

Jason will be back in action Thursday, June 7th at Norman County Raceway and Friday, June 8th at Red River Valley Speedway. If you can’t make it, both races can be heard live on 106.5FM or RJbroadcasting.com.

Jason and the entire E85 Racing team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
