Pierce Looks to Extend River Cities Point Lead Tonight

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 24, 2018) – Austin Piece and the Opp Construction / Lithia Ford No. 2A team will return to action tonight at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. After a rare off week, Pierce will be back at the Bullring, looking to extend his slim points lead.

Entering the night, Pierce holds a one-point lead over Wade Nygaard. Pierce leads all drivers with nine top 10 finishes to date, including seven top fives.

Despite consistently running inside the top five, Pierce is still looking for that first victory at River Cities. Of his four podium efforts this season, three of them are second place finishes.

Racing begins tonight at 7pm at the high-banked three-tenths mile bullring located on the Greater Grand Forks County Fairgrounds. Pierce will have all-new 2018 apparel available tonight after the races. Shirts are $20 and hoodies are $40.

In Pierce’s last event at River Cities on August 10th, he came away with a sixth-place finish. With the 58th annual Knoxville Nationals taking place in Iowa that weekend, no track or NOSA points were on the line.

After starting ninth on the grid, Pierce made his way up to third in the closing laps. With five laps to go, the razor-thin cushion bit Pierce as he slid off the embankment. The three-time and defending River Cities Speedway track champion made his way back up to salvage a sixth-place finish.
