GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 23, 2020) – It was another solid outing for the Mullen Motorsports No. 11M last Friday night at River Cities Speedway. Brendan Mullen came away with a sixth-place finish, but had to do it the hard way.
After lining up 12th on the grid for the 25-lap feature, Mullen began his trek to the front at the drop of the green flag. Mullen cracked the top five at the halfway point, but shortly thereafter, he slightly missed the cushion and spun around in turn two.
Mullen had to line up at the tail end of the lead lap for the ensuing restart, but just as he did on the original start, Mullen began picking off cars one by one.
At the checkers, the driver of the Auto Finance Super Center / C L Linfoot machine crossed the line in sixth – having passed 16 cars to do so.
“It was frustrating,” said Mullen after the race of his spin on lap 15. “We’ve been struggling here the past couple of weeks, but we’ve found something that will be fast. It feels good to pass all of those cars, but it was a lot of extra work I created for myself. There’s always next week,” he said with a smile.
Racing will begin this Thursday night for Mullen as he will follow the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car tour to Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. During last year’s event at the big, fast three-eighths mile, Mullen ran inside the top three for the majority of the race before finishing in the sixth position.
On Friday night, Mullen will again be in action at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Racing begins at 7:00pm both nights.
