Thomas Kennedy set to return to action in Ontario; 14 events on tentative schedule
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (June 30, 2021) – After nearly a year and a half since his last race, Thomas Kennedy is set to get back behind the wheel of the family-owned No. 21K. Kennedy has a tentative 14 race schedule with the Ontario-based Knights of Thunder 360 Sprints.
“I’m really excited to get back into the car. It’s been a really long year and half. We were geared up for a big 2020 season when everything just stopped all at once. I hope we can get back into the States soon to race, but I’m excited that we are able to get some racing in here in Canada,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy’s first race will be July 10th at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario.
Coming off of a pair of ASCS National Tour wins, solid outing with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, a top 10 run at the 360 Knoxville Nationals in 2019 and the Midwest Power Series championship, Kennedy was peaking just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Still, Kennedy says there is some benefit to come out of sitting out for over a year.
“I was able to sit back and watch racing broadcasts and videos from a different perspective over the last year and learn a lot from it. A driver can pick up a lot just from watching different drivers of different tracks and series,” he said.
Kennedy has also kept his fitness up during the pandemic to stay in top shape for the day when racing returns.
“Along with working out four to five days a week, I’ve taken up kickboxing which has really helped with my strength and endurance.”
Kennedy said he expects he’ll be able to knock any rust off in just a couple laps when he hits the track1 and a lot of that is credit to keeping up with his fitness regimen.
Kennedy Racing welcomes new sponsors Hill’s Racing Team, Townline Variety, CigarPort.ca, TrueNorth.bet and Body Mechanics to the 21K this year.
Thomas also sincerely thanks his current sponsors for their continued support during these tough times – Buffalo Wild Wings, Grinch Service and Sales, Kennedy Floorings and Speedway Shots.
