Lee Grosz Races to Podium Finish at Park Jefferson Speedway!

JEFFERSON, S.D. (April 25, 2017) – Last Saturday night Lee Grosz and the Beds by Design crew were back in action for their only race of the weekend at Park Jefferson Speedway. The Nebraska 360s/MSTS 360s co-sanctioned event brought in a stout 38 car field to the semi-banked 4/10th mile dirt oval.

Lee began the night in the fourth starting position in heat race number two. Lee jumped out to second on the opening lap and went on to finish behind heat winner, Jack Dover.

After redrawing the six pill, Lee lined up outside of row three for the 25-lap main event.

At the drop of the green flag, Lee quickly began working his way forward.

“We got to third fairly quick… in about two laps,” he said. “Then I was working on getting by [Dusty] Ballinger for second. I followed him into turn three and he ended up breaking a u-joint so he about came to a stop. I kind of got trapped behind him on the bottom. That’s when Thomas [Kennedy] got around us.”

At the midpoint of the race, Lee maneuvered past early race leader, Jason Martin to take over second. In the closing laps, ASCS national tour contender Blake Hahn made a charge on Lee for the runner-up spot.

“Going into the last corner, I had a lapped car in front of me on the bottom. I didn’t really want to follow the lapped car so I went to the middle and Hahn got a run on the bottom and he beat me back to the line.”

Despite being relegated back to third at the finish, the team was still pleased with picking up their first podium finish of the season and second consecutive top five.

There was a lot of passing happening all night long at Park Jefferson Speedway. Lee says that the track conditions were nearly ideal.

“Come feature time turns three and four were slick from top to bottom, there really wasn’t much on top, but you could still run up there. In one and two there was a good cushion on top and slick under that. It was actually a real racy racetrack. I was really impressed.”

With his third place run, Lee now sits second in the Nebraska 360s point standings; 82 markers behind Thomas Kennedy.
