Mullen gears up for NOSA tripleheader following first career River Cities win

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 13, 2021) – The Mullen Motorsports team is halfway through a six-race, 10-day stretch that covers five different race tracks. Last weekend, Brendan picked up his first career win at his home track – River Cities Speedway, before picking up a top 10 with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints at Cedar Lake Speedway and a solid 12th-place run at the Huset’s Speedway season opener.

Up next, the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints head to Jackson Motorplex on Friday, followed by a visit to I-90 Speedway on Saturday and Huset’s Speedway on Sunday.

In Friday night’s feature at River Cities, Mullen led early but had constant pressure from 2019 series champion, Nick Omdahl. Omdahl took the point on lap five, but Mullen regained the lead with a slider on a lap 10 restart.

Once out front, Mullen never looked back as he cruised to his third career NOSA win.

“I’ve been coming here my whole life and I’ve seen a million races here. This feels really awesome to win one,” said Mullen after the race. “About five laps in I knew the car was on rails. Todd Slocum did a masterful job on the set up tonight. When I had Omdahl and (Austin) Pierce pass me, I was like ‘Oh boy. They are way faster than we are,’ but luckily Pierce made a mistake and I got to reset mentally. Omdahl and I had a couple of really good battles on those restarts and that was a ton of fun. It feels really good to get a win at River Cities.”

A big weekend of racing kicks off tomorrow night with the NOSA Sprints at Jackson Motorplex. Friday will mark Mullen’s third appearance at the four-tenths mile oval. He last raced at Jackson with the IRA Sprints last May and picked up a 15th place finish.

Following Friday’s event, the series will head west to I-90 Speedway. In four trips to I-90 last year with the 360, Mullen picked up three top 10s including a third-place effort.

Friday’s event from Jackson can be seen live on Floracing.com. Sunday’s races from Huset’s can be seen on DirtVision.com.
