GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 25, 2019) – The four-race swing for the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints schedule for last weekend was trimmed to just two after Mother Nature forced the cancellation of the two events in South Dakota.
The NOSA Sprints were able to dodge the rain showers Thursday, June 20th at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. to get the full show in. After a sixth place run in his heat, Austin Pierce was mired back in the 11th starting position for the 25-lap main event.
The racing surface quickly began taking rubber in the feature, but that didn’t stop Pierce from moving forward. The driver of the Opp Construction / Lithia Ford No. 2A advanced nine positions on a one-laned track to not only race to a top five finish, but pick up the hard charger award. Pierce advanced eight spots to take the checkers in fourth.
The following night at River Cities Speedway, Pierce timed in second quick in time trials, just one-hundredth of a second off of Chris Ranten’s Quick Time. Pierce finished fifth in the heat which was good enough to make the invert for the feature. After starting seventh on the grid, Pierce worked his way up to finish in the fourth position for the second night in a row.
The defending track champion currently sits fifth in the River Cities Speedway Sprint Car point standings, just 25 markers out of the lead.
The NOSA Sprints have just one event on the calendar this weekend. They will return to River Cities Speedway on Friday night. Hot laps start at 6:30pm with racing at 7:00pm.
